You are right. I consider all insurance cheap compared with the alternative
of committing a fraudelent offence and becoming some other prisoners wife or
suffering financial devistation or worse still not being able to protect and
care for those who help make me wealthy.
You gave such a great discourse as to the problems associated with your workers
comp .. thats selling. Now do it for all your clients. As a consumer i would never
want to take the risk of being sued because i knowingly allowed uninsured people
to do the work.
Lastly you tell me that it is expensive. Pull your head out of the sand. 24% is not too
bad. How about gas at $3/gallon or a new chipper for $55,000 or $1,300 for a new Stihl
020T. Whatever the costs they simply need to be factored into the equation. How others
want to run their business has little bearing on mine and their pricing structure has
no bearing at all.
I find your comments typical of a good arborist. Many years ago in an arbor age Dick
Proudfoot said "arborists tend do for business what tree toppers do for trees"
Please don't misundestand me, I would like the rates to be lower, so that I could bill
my clients for less, but I do not set the rates. It would also be lower if we paid less in
tax (our maximum rate is 66%) and I could use the equipment more efficiently if it never got
dark but there are some things that are just plain out of my controll.
Stop feeling sorry for yourself and get on with making it all fun.
