It has occured to me for some time that the problem with trees and sidewalks is
that the root system expands and there is no flexability in the sidewalk.
I have seen pavers made from recycled tyres that are used for soft fall area
in playgrounds.
It occured to me that with all the tyres in the world the raw matterials are probably
freely available. I envission a hopper/on site lay and form of the pavement.
The matterial is porous flexible and would allow for root growth. If a fall were
to occure it would be less likely to result in injury.
Fire is a consideration but I am sure a fire retardant could be applied.
What are your thoughts
