A standard is something grown with a single stem. In particular this applies
to plants that normally grow with many trunks or no trunks at all.
Grafted means two plants joined together at one spot. Usually it refers to
the roots of one plant and the top of another. For example a vigourous
root system of a briar rose with a top part from a beutifull flowering
rose.
If there is a sigle trunk for a while then the rose would be a grafted standard.
