Can you tell me more about Norfolk Pine?

We live in washington state and have winters with 40f average temperatures however we get spells of hard cold (0 and below, windchill to -25f) with 1' or more of snow for a week or more.
Is this tree mostly used as a house plan? Sounds like it gets too big for a house plant at some point? Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks much
