There has been successful classical biological control of
this pest in California. In fact, this is one of the most
dramatic biological control successes ever. There is much
literature available from University of California. A
brief description is in the U.C. publication, Pests of
Landscape Trees & Shrubs, publication #3359. Check out
publications from: ANR Publications, 510-642-2431. Look
up biological controls in general as well.
