Thank you for the great run down on mistletoe. I have had
to remove a number of broken brooms this winter, some causing
damage to the house below. Some of these are mature Jeff pine
(30"+dbh)heavily infested with mistletoe. The concern is loss
of vigor making the tree more susceptible to bark beetle attack.
BArk beetle has been a major problem here, as is overcrowding,
residule slash, etc. etc. I am looking into "marketing" manual
mistletoe abatement. So, I am fishing a bit to see if this is
has been tried or if the work is just incidental to other jobs, i.e.
pruning or removals.
