I like having both ends on the ground to have pretied equipment handy and if I want to work on the way up it is not a problem I have both sides of my rope in hand, unlike a SRT situation, also as the booklet "Tree climbers companion" points out that you can do a "self belay body thrust" this is a nice transition with out effort.
