Did you ever notice also that some of the more dangerous
trees are ones that people have cared for by having every
thing in the tree book done to them . Cables and Rods
especially . A tree can grow to depend on these . I have
seen people just take a pair of bolt cutters and
cut a cable because the tree is being removed . I like
to take all the weight off a limb before I cut a cable .
I have even gone as far as placing my Racheting lowering
device on the tree and placing a block up high where the
cable is , then run a rope through the block and tie off
on the other side where the other end of the cable is.
I would crank it up till the tension is off the cable , then
tie the rope off on the device . Then I cut the Cable . I
have even taking some nasty split leaders down this way .
This was done on a 120 ft. double lead Poplar .huge.Hollow.
