Good to hear you are reviewing AR techniques. An updated
training course with a detailed curriculum is sorely needed.
The jamboree venue does not provide adequate time to train
someone in AR and should not be a considered a training
demonstration. It is designed to test a climbers skill
and knowledge of climbing and AR techniques required under
a very specific set of circumstances.
As part of your review please read over the rules
of the International Tree Climbing Championships and also
spend sometime reviewing the score sheets. The event has
been designed to test the climbers ability to safely
retrieve an injuried worker from the tree at the request
of an EMT who is on site waiting to provide medical
attention. It primarily tests climbing skills not first
aid or CPR.The time limit is stated to level the playing
field for the competitors and also to limit the amount of
time each climber spends at the event.

Tim, following your research and analysis I would ask that you
please send your findings to the ISA office. An article
would be great if you have the time. If you have any
suggestions for how the AR event can be improved
please send them to the ISA office and
they will be sent on the the ITCC Rules Committee
for consideration.

I look forward to hearing form you. Tell the boys
form Philly Hi.

Jim
